Thierry Braspenning-Balzacq is a Belgian professor of political sciences and international relations at Namur University (FUNDP, Belgium), where he teaches and conduct research on IR theory, European policies, and epistemology of the social sciences. He is also associate member of the CECRI at Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), and professor at IEP Paris (France). Recipient of various degrees in political sciences and philosophy at Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and of a PhD in IR at Cambridge University (United Kingdom), he is the author of several books and academic articles, such as "Security versus Freedom: a challenge for Europe's future" (with S.
